In a significant diplomatic move, India and Mauritius have upgraded their relationship to an enhanced strategic partnership. PM Narendra Modi held formal talks with his counterpart Navinchandra Ramgoolam, reaffirming India’s commitment to a free, open, and secure Indian Ocean. India has pledged full support for Mauritius’s Exclusive Economic Zone security, including the deployment of ships and aircraft.

ECONOMY UPDATE: RETAIL INFLATION COOLS, INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION RISES

According to data from the National Statistical Office (NSO), India’s retail inflation cooled to a seven-month low of 3.6% in February, largely due to easing food prices. This decline provides the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) with potential headroom to lower interest rates in April.

Simultaneously, India’s industrial production index (IIP) recorded a 5% growth in January, an improvement from 3.5% in December. This growth was primarily driven by an expansion in the manufacturing sector, signaling a positive economic outlook.
